Ryanair, Europes largest budget carrier, is continuing to expand its portfolio of destinations by adding Memmingen Airport to its network.

The airport, which is based 62 miles from Munich is the first destination in the southern German region of Bavaria for Ryanair.

In a recent statement Ryanair claims, “at last we can offer consumers and visitors to the Bavaria region competition, choice and very low airfares, compared to the high fares and unjustified surcharges of existing operators.”

The Irish Budget carrier has also revealed plans to base eight aircraft at Cherleroi Airport, Brussels which will enable it to launch five new routes from June, adding Brindisi, La Rochelle, Palma, Santiago and Turin to its network. It is also planning to increase frequencies to Fez, Manchester, Marseille and Riga.

East Midlands passengers will benefit from the introduction of cheap Ryanair flights to Mallorca and Reus (Barcelona) from July.

Air France has revealed plans to introduce Premium Economy cabins to their fleet of long haul aircraft, as well as re-branding their existing cabins. This should provide a welcome benefit for those who look for cheap air travel but without the compromise Economy Class can sometimes bring.

The Premium Economy cabin will be called “Premium Voyager” and will be launched in Q3, 2009 on flights to New York, Osaka and Tokyo.

The main feature of the cabin will be the bespoke designed seats, which will be 48cm wide and will provide passengers with a 97cm (38 inch) pitch and 123 degree recline. This is 40% more space than in the existing economy cabin. In addition, each seat will be fitted with a 10-inch personal video screen, passengers will benefit from priority check in and will receive a luggage allowance of up to 30KG each. Amenities from the Business cabin will also be provided to Premium Voyager passengers, such as noise reduction kits. However, the meal service will mirror the existing economy product.

First Class will be re-branded as “La Premiere”. The existing Business Class “L’Espace Affairers” will become simply “Affaires”. The Economy cabin will be renamed “Voyager” and will be known as “Voyager/Navette” on short haul routes.

Air France offers a wide and comprehensive list of flights to and from major cities across the globe.
