Southwest Airlines, the low cost carrier who offer cheap flights across the USA has submitted a bid which would allow it to assume the now defunct ATA Airlines’ rights to operate at New York’s LaGuardia Airport.

This offer, worth around $7.5million, seeks the right to obtain the 14 departure and arrival positions currently held by ATA Airlines. This would then permit up to seven daily round trips from the airport, allowing Southwest to increase its low cost network of flights.
