Passengers travelling on Mexicana Airlines should expect a culinary delight on flights in the near future.

Mexicana has recently recruited chef Enrique Olvera, who will work as the airlines Executive Chef.

Olvera is a culinary icon in Mexico, so this move is sure to boost the status as the airline as well as improve its in-flight meals.

Olvera is planning an overhaul of the current in-flight meal concept, with healthy, tasty and well-presented dishes being offered. The menus have been developed after the chef spent a gruelling five months travelling with the airline, sampling existing meals and talking to customers about their needs and preferences.

He has paid close attention to local culinary tastes and requirements and has plans to incorporate these local flavours into his dishes.

Low Cost Carrier FlyDubai selects Boeing

The new, low cost carrier FlyDubai has selected Boeing to support its launch from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

FlyDubai have opted for Boeing’s next generation 737 aircraft over the Airbus A320 and flights are expected to commence from the new Al-Maktoum International Airport at Jebel Ali during the second quarter of 2009.

Initial reports suggest the airline, which was founded by the Dubai Government in 2008, will begin flying with four new 737-800s with a further 50 to follow from the US manufacturer.

Routes have yet to be confirmed but are all expected to be within a 4.5-hour flying distance from Dubai and are expected to be competitively priced.
