The Star Alliance group has increased its membership to 21 with the recent addition of EgyptAir.
EgyptAir offers 1624 weekly flights to 69 destinations around the world and will strengthen Star Alliance’s network throughout Africa and the Middle East.
Tawfic Assy, CEO of the EgyptAir Holding Company believes that “Our strategic location will enable Cairo Airport to become a major hub for the Star Alliance family and a gateway to the Middle East and north Africa”.
To support this new role the Egyptian Airport Authority is currently developing its new Terminal 3, which will be a dedicated facility, serving passengers of Star Alliance members. The expected capacity of this new terminal is 11 million passengers.
