Passengers travelling from or through Paris CDG Airport are now enjoying the benefits of a new terminal, 2G. The terminal is a dedicated terminal for Air France and offers internal flights on Air France’s regional airlines Brit Air, City Jet and Regional to group flights from a single location. 2G was also vital in meeting the increased capacity travelling through the airport.
The Terminal 2G was inaugurated on 12th September 2008.

The Italian Civil Aviation Authority was teetering on the brink of withdrawing the operating licence of the Italian flag carrier, Alitalia, in late September. To avert this the airline has been told it must present a coherent cost saving strategy to allow it to keep flying. Debt ridden Alitalia is said to be losing a mind boggling €2 million per day thanks in the main to its bulky and inefficient structure. However airline officials have failed to reach deals with unions over streamlining the carrier and with the investment group CAI over as rescue bid. CAI had been in talks over a possible takeover but unions opposed their plans to slash 3000 jobs. Under European competition rules, nationalisation of the airline is not permitted.
If the airline is not thrown a lifeline soon it is possible it will cease operating. Flights have already been cancelled on routes from Rome Fiumicino Airport amidst speculation that it cannot afford to purchase fuel.
It has been widely suggested that it is in fact the unions themselves who are killing off the airlines chance of survival. Earlier in 2008 they blocked a bid from Air France – KLM to buy Alitalia.
