To help the carrier accelerate its fleet renewal plan, American Airlines has announced an order for 26 next generation Boeing 737-800s.
Most are exercised options (20), but 6 are incremental to its 2009-2010 fleet plan that was announced earlier this year.

Hawaiian Airlines has announced that it is matching certain price increases that its major competitors have recently adopted. From October 1 it will charge $15 for passengers checked luggage for flights between the mainland US and Hawaii although on inter-island flights this will continue to be free.
