Pan European private jet carrier JetBird has converted options for three Embraer Phenom 100’s increasing its order for the four seat Very Light Jet (VLJ) to 53. The company still has options for a further 47 aircraft with the scope to expand its fleet to 100 by the end of 2013.
British Airways was expected to announce a significant reduction in its winter capacity when it revealed its first quarter results on August 1. Like its rivals in the budget sector, the airline is having to cut back services to stem losses caused by the high price of jet fuel. Its London/Gatwick operation was expected to be hit the hardest by the cuts with reports of a 20% reduction in flights.
Swiss International Air Lines has acquired Zurich based Servair Private Charter and will operate the venture under the Swiss Private Aviation brand as a fully owned subsidiary. The business will take over the management of the Lufthansa Private Jet fleet of business aircraft from spring 2009.
