Very few cities in Europe can compete with Paris as a romantic destination; it has the ability to please everyone and is often referred to as The City of Lights. Renowned for its modern art and breathtaking scenery a short stay in Paris is the ideal location for a romantic weekend break; for most visitors, this is just enough time to see what it has to offer.

The world famous Louvre museum is in this city; it houses over three hundred thousand exhibits but not all of them are ever on display at the same time. Even on a short stay in Paris, this is a an art lovers paradise; many of the world’s art collections are housed here, which includes the renowned ‘Mona Lisa’. Paris has always been a magnetic destination for artists; many of whom left large collections of their paintings here like Monet and Picasso.
Paris is also the home of the equally famous Arc de Triomphe which Napoleon had constructed in the early part of the 19th century; the names of his generals engraved upon it to honor them and his troops. Many people do not know that an observatory was included in the design which affords great views of the surrounding area; it stands in the place where the city’s main avenues begin including the Champs Elysees.
Of course this article can only give a small sample places to visit; although no trip would be complete without seeing these, they are probably best viewed as part of a guided tour, some of which are actually free. Most people find their Paris short stay vacations exciting but only see a glimpse of what’s on offer; that would require a longer visit as you probably won’t have time to visit the gothic churches and castles in only a few days.
